At Home in Exile
(1 Samuel 27:1-28:2)
Exile is the status of being out of place in a world not home.
Three Observations:
Self-sentenced exile. (1-4)
Waiting in exile. (5-8)
Temptations in exile. (1:9-2:2)
Reflection Questions
How do you resonate with “we’re not in Kansas anymore” in this world at times such as these?
Do you feel like an exile in the world you live in?
How do you respond in your waiting?
Is your default to run, hide, wait, and simply just endure?
…or to give to temptations that reflect the ways of this world?
What hope does Christ’s self-exile bring to anyone who longs for a better home?
What’s God inviting you into, as you engage with hopeful longing?
