At Home in Exile
(1 Samuel 27:1-28:2)

Exile is the status of being out of place in a world not home.

Three Observations:

  1. Self-sentenced exile. (1-4)

  2. Waiting in exile. (5-8)

  3. Temptations in exile. (1:9-2:2)

Reflection Questions

  • How do you resonate with “we’re not in Kansas anymore” in this world at times such as these?

Do you feel like an exile in the world you live in?

  • How do you respond in your waiting?

Is your default to run, hide, wait, and simply just endure?

…or to give to temptations that reflect the ways of this world?

  • What hope does Christ’s self-exile bring to anyone who longs for a better home?

What’s God inviting you into, as you engage with hopeful longing?
