Village Basics: Under the Word | May's Sunday AM Classes
Hey folks!
"How are we making, maturing, and multiplying disciples?" This is a big question that we get to ask ourselves - individually and collectively - as a local church committed to the Great Commission. One answer to that question is a new series of annual classes, Village Basics, that will explore what it means to be Under the Word as disciples, Around the Table as family, and Among our Neighbors as missionaries.
Our first class, Under the Word, begins this weekend! Whether you've been a Christian for a long time or are still trying to figure out where you stand with Jesus, our hope is to build up your confidence in and comfort with the bible in front of you. From 9:00-10:00am on Sunday mornings in May, we'll be exploring some big questions about the bible:
Week One: What is the bible? We'll break down the bible "book report-style" to get our hands around what it actually is and what it really means to followers of Jesus.
Week Two: Where did it come from? We'll bust some common myths and misconceptions about how the bible was written, collected, and passed down into our hands (and our apps!) over thousands of years.
Week Three: How should we read it? We'll explore how reading your bible begins way before you ever open it up and offer some ways to get the most out of your time in its pages.
Week Four: Intro to Philippians! We don't want to just talk about reading the bible; we actually want to do it. Before our summer study in Philippians kicks off, Kelly O'Donohoe will give us an on-ramp into Paul's letter to a church. We'll also help you connect with a summer study group if that's something you'd like.
If you can't make it to all four classes, that's okay! While the classes complement each other, you'll be able to track just fine if you hop in mid-way. The more, the merrier!
KidCare will also be available! We've got volunteers lined up to let those of you with little ones participate distraction-free. (Thanks to those of you serving!)
