Advent 2022:
Prayers of Promise

Waiting can feel like a waste. But is it? Despite our best efforts, sometimes we have no choice but to sit with the anticipation that something is on the horizon. This anticipation is what the season of Advent (literally, the arrival of something) is all about! Advent is an annual reminder that God is still at work when we’re in seasons of waiting - and among all the work he’s doing, is work he wants to do in us.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we’ll explore a few of the prayers of God’s people as they set their eyes on the promised coming of their Savior. This is where our stories overlap with the overarching story of Scripture: a people left longing for the fullness of redemption, restoration, and reconciliation to be felt across creation. The fact of Jesus’ past arrival makes our future hope for his second coming sure and our present waiting more meaningful than we could ever imagine.
