What is The Village Gate?
The Village Gate is one way we help welcome new folks into the community and mission of The Village. Three times a year, we host a gathering for those interested in learning more about The Village and/or local church membership. This meeting is open to anyone, and there’s no obligation to commit to The Village or to pursue membership if you attend.
What do I have to do?
In order to make the most of our time together, we ask that those attending would do a little homework before they come. We’ve broken down some of the basics of our faith and our church into three session (Gospel, Community, and Mission) and produced written and recorded content to make it as easy as possible for folks to digest it.
Below, you’ll not only find a link to our written content, but links to listen to a few of the elders talk about it. Either one is fine! Write down any comments, questions, or concerns you have, and bring them with you to the gathering! We look forward to seeing you there!

How can I get the content?
While we try to have hardcopies of the content on-hand at the Connect Desk, you can access Village Gate material no matter where you are. Read a PDF version or listen to us talk through Gospel, Community, and Mission via audio.

Read our Doctrine & Distinctives!
We want anyone interested in membership to be familiar with our Statement of Faith and other distinctives - theological, cultural, and otherwise. While members of The Village don’t have to agree with every word of them, we do require that members know them, have a clean conscience about fellowshipping with us in light of them, and refrain from any sort of divisiveness because of them.
We enjoy a culture that welcomes questions and conversation about Scripture, theology, and the way that shapes life and ministry. It’s one of the reasons we host our Village Gate gatherings: to create in-person space with elders and others for the sake of clarity. You can read our doctrine and distinctives on our Beliefs page or view the PDF below.
Membership Covenant
There are two main reasons why local church membership is helpful: 1) it helps the elders know who they’re accountable for shepherding, and 2) it clarifies and aligns everyone’s expectations around what it means to be a healthy part of The Village. We don’t assume membership - neither that someone who’s been attending for a long time is “in,” nor that someone who has been a member will be a member forever. This is why we offer our Village Gate class three times a year and ask members to reconsider their membership on an annual basis.
You can learn more about membership and read the covenant elders and members make to one another below.
