The Gospel-Centered Life | Summer Groups Study

Get ready for something a little different!

During our summer session of weekly gatherings (May-July), our community groups will be walking through a nine-lesson study called “The Gospel-Centered Life.” This study has been a go-to for us over the years as an extended look at the good news of Jesus and how it shapes the way we live and relate with one another and the Lord. We incorporate bits of it into our Village Gate content. The Bridge students are studying the teen version. And we’ve continued to recommend it to disciples - both old and new! - to help us grow together as a gospel-formed community.

What do you need to know? Here are five things:

  1. Everyone needs their own copy! You’ll read, underline, jot down questions, and be asked to personally reflect in the guide, so you’ll want to grab one that’s just for you. It can be found on Amazon, Christianbook, or any number of places. If the cost is a barrier for you or someone you know, send us a message and we’ll take care of it for you!

  2. Every group will go at their own pace! While all groups should wrap up the study before our fall session of weekly gatherings (September-November), individual groups will move through the study on whatever timetable works best for them. Savor the study; don’t rush through it!

  3. It’ll be a breath of fresh air! We know the summer months come with irregular schedules, erratic availability, and a change of pace for many. This study doesn’t require homework before the lesson, the content is accessible, and the guide makes it easy for different folks to facilitate conversation.

  4. It’ll breathe life into you! The study really is centered around the gospel’s impact on ordinary people in everyday life. Each week you’ll read a short article together, consider some questions as a group, and take a few minutes to think through how the good news of Jesus frees you to more deeply believe, follow, and enjoy the Lord.

  5. It’s a great time for you (or someone else!) to join a group! Not in a group yet? Join one of our seven community groups listed at myvillagechurch.com/groups. Know someone who’s not yet connected to a group? Invite them to connect with one this summer!

Have any questions? Don’t hesitate to send us a message!
