A Better King
(1 Samuel 16:1-13)

The Lord’s ways are not our ways… they are better!

  1. Mourning lost ways.

  2. Misplaced hope in our ways.

  3. Trusting in God’s ways.

 
 

Reflection Questions

  • Are you following the Lord’s wisdom or the wisdom of this world?

    >> Where specifically are you trusting in yourself or others, but not God?

  • How is your heart? Does it model integrity? Why or why not?

    >> Your will, emotions, reason, thoughts, actions should be subordinate to God’s good commands; do they conform? Where do they differ? Why?

  • How do you handle appearance? Where do you favor those who have qualities you are attracted to?

    >> In what ways have you wrongly elevated or denigrated due to appearance? >> How do you respond when elevated or denigrated due to your appearance or what you have/don’t have? Have you taken this to the Lord?
